My friends and I all like to sleep in on the weekends. Good because I get to sleep, bad because we get up too late do actually do things. By the time we got to Central to have dim sum, it was already late afternoon so just imagine how late it must have been when we actually finished eating.
Restaurant Review: I don't remember the name of the restaurant but I definitely would go again. The only problem is that it is a bit far (one hour) away. Other than that, it was great! According to Jade's Chinese restaurant app (which is like the Chinese version of Yelp), the restaurant was famous for it's cow stomach. And so, I tried cow stomach. It looked really weird but as long as I don't think of it being cow stomach, it's quite good. Secret tip: try thinking that it's tofu/vegetarian meat instead. Part of the reason why that works is because the texture is very similar.
Afterwards, we did a lot of shopping. And when I say a lot, I mean...a lot. Like hours worth. Sarah bought this Versace perfume from the department store and honestly, I'm a tad bit jealous. I really liked the smell but I can't be affording that. OH WELL. My next best option was to hold onto the sample stick for a while and keep sniffing so that's what I did. Jade and Xixi also wanted to get make up so they did the little makeovers that some places do. I've never done it and I've never actually seen anyone I know do it so it was pretty interesting. The first place we went to was a Korean brand and the lady who helped them out was super nice and helpful.
Cute side story: the sales lady apparently was pregnant and having a daughter! She asked us whether we liked the name "Hannah" or "Rihannah" better. We actually took a vote amongst ourselves and other sales lady commented about how serious we were being about the issue. Later she told us she wanted to give her daughter a princess-ey name and we made her a list of about 8 names which we left with her. At the top of the list was: Alyssa. I forgot the other ones.
While Sarah and I were waiting, we started talking about make-up and before I came to Hong Kong, I heard about the puppy-eye eyeliner trend. I noticed a lot of the sales ladies at the make-up stores had done their eye make-up really well, especially the pregnant one. Before we left, Sarah and I asked her to teach us how to do it and she tested it out on me. And then I got the nickname "Puppy Eyes." Like really, they call me that. Especially Xixi.
For dinner, we went to a small noodle restaurant behind a really shady looking alley. Why. Why do we always go down the shady alleys? Knock wood. But I guess that means the restaurants more local? No idea. I had the noodles with octopus and fishball. Honestly, I think they got the noodles out of a packet but it was cooked really well and to the right consistency. And actually it was good. So....shhh....
Plus, if you just SAW what they were stewing up in the front of the restaurant, your mouth would water so I'm not doubting their cooking skills.
