Today was one of the extracurriculars that some of signed up for:
A Cooking Class in a Kitchen Studio.
It was comprised of an antipasti, main dish, and a dessert.
Honestly, it wasn't as great as I expected.
But it was still pretty dang awesome.
I have had a sushi class before and a cake decorating class before, so I kind of had a sense of what to expect, but I guess I expected more just because we were in Italy.
We did not necessarily get our own stations (although own cutting board and stuff, so I guess)
but we ended up making parts of a huge dish (takes a long time to make) and then
unified it to complete it.

So, what we made are:
- Padellotto di verdure
- Riso imbottito per 8 persone
- Mousse di ricotta al basilico con croccantino di mandorle
The 1st is basically roasted vegetables (eggplants, onions, squash, potatoes, etc) that have been coated with olive oil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
The 2nd is kind of a lasagna except that it is made of rice layers.
It has a layer or tomato sauce infused rice, boiled egg slices, thick mozzarella slices, fried homemade meatballs, basil, and even more rice and more sauce etc. It is coated with eggs, butter, etc.
IT is SO HEAVY but SO DELICIOUS!
The 3rd is a dessert made of ricotta cheese, basil, lemon skin, honey, sugar, and crushed almonds.
...
I was literally the one that ate the most.
Even more than the guys.
Bailey was like "Where does it all go?"
I did not really feel that full until like 1 hour later though ironically.
It just was so delicious!!

Afterwards, that night we were to meet up with Jeannette and her friends again.
More people than expected turned up as you could probably tell by the photo.
(Around 40?)
...
On our way to meet Jeannette though in Trastevere near the Tiber River,
we ran into 2 Americans and 1 German.
They asked us if we spoke English and then just somehow we all ended up going
together to wherever we were going.
...
Overall, basically it was a lot of fun mainly thanks to meeting the three guys I feel like.
Because it just was too many people to be able to cope and to go out dancing or drinking as planned.
I felt bad for Bailey because it was her 20th birthday and we were going to celebrate, but
it sort of was like a surprise candle with a cupcake and then a lot of walking and we did get to drink (well I didn't) but there was no dancing or anything.
To make up for that, I had Camila and Jessica teach me how to Salsa a bit, so I was basically salsa-ing out on the streets haha.
...
The highlight though (besides the 3 new friends) was the chocolate shots.
We are definitely going there again!
I got the Spagnoletta or something which is basically a mint-infused alcohol.
The boys had something called a 69 just cause of its name.
Typical. x)

Note: Italians are very touchy and open and can come off as super straightforward which I do not mind since I am straight forward. However, at times the whole touching part...mm.takes getting used to.
Also, I did a lot of Due Baci, the whole saying hello by kissing each other on the cheek.
Will write a post more about that and its culture later.
